BBQ...Downtown Valdosta...Cook-off!! Let's just say you had me at BBQ! I do love delicious fall-off-the-bone ribs, smoked chicken full of flavor, and good ol' mac 'n' cheese. Who doesn't?!

We tend to be out of town for the 100 Black Men Annual BBQ Cook-off, but this year, we made it! The courthouse square downtown was lined with vendors selling their award winning bbq, sides and desserts. We tried several stands and LOVED the Jamaican jerk ribs from one and mac 'n' cheese from Woodstack BBQ Tavern. We decided to enjoy a little fruit for dessert, which was so good, just relaxing on the front lawn of the old courthouse.

There's something about eating BBQ under Georgia oak trees in the summer with some of your closest friends that feels like what Southern summers are made of. You've got to make plans to go to next year's event. You won't be disappointed!
